Changes Start At DCA

Well the begining of the massive 1.1 billion dollar expansion of Disney's California Adventure kicked off Monday with the closing of the Sun Wheel for the transformation into Mickeys Fun Wheel. Also this week was the media preview of the Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar, a small exhibit dedicated to showing just how cool DCA is going to be in the coming years.

I can't express how excited I am for the NEW DCA. The 'Big 3' as I call them look to be nothing short of spectacular and those are:

The Wonderful World Of Color: The gigantic 1500 water fountain show on Paradise Pier. The concept art keeps looking better and better for this one and I really love a good nighttime show. Part of building this show is the addition of a lot more viewing space (thats why the wheel & swings are going to be closed so long).

Little Mermaid Ride: This is very exciting. A dark ride done in classic grand disney fashion. This isn't going to be a typical 'fantasyland' dark ride, but rather something of a much larger nature, more like a Pirates or Haunted Mansion.

Radiator Springs Racers: This is the largest overall attraction being added and could be the best. A absolutely massive attraction with what appear to be test track type cars racing inside past show scenes and outside past desert landscapes. I really enjoyed Cars the movie, so I want to see this one.

Besides the 'Big 3' a lot of money is being spent on beautifying the parts of the park that felt the cheapest & most 'un-disney' and those are the 'postcard' entrance and the 'mini-mall' architecture of Paradise Pier.

Come 2012 DCA will finally be a park worthy of the name 'Disney' and I can't wait.
